ARUP and WSU Team Up to Provide Lab Education Solutions

In response to critical shortages of qualified lab professionals nationwide, ARUP and WSU have partnered to promote and facilitate the education of MTs and MLTs. ARUP and WSU initiated this unique distance-learning curriculum in September 2008, successfully providing ARUP clients with the means to educate laboratory personnel without taking them away from their work sites.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 12,400 medical laboratory employees will be needed nationwide between 2002 through 2010 to staff the nation's clinical laboratories. However, less than half of the lab personnel are graduating and available to fill these positions.

This collaboration provides ARUP's client laboratories with an opportunity to educate lab personnel, without removing them from the workplace.

Students access the courses online anytime. Completion of their lab competencies for each course occurs after work in their own facilities with approval and support of their employers.

Learn more now! The next application deadline is February 1.

NOTICE!!!

AMT Members

Matthew Patton, Editor, ADVANCE for Medical Laboratory Professional, would like to publish articles on advances and changes in the healthcare profession. This would be especially true for the laboratory profession. He would especially like article from members who have been in the field for twenty or more years. However, I am sure as an editor; he would accept articles from some of our younger members. These articles should reflect changes that you have seen taken place over the years. I can remember using oil bath to incubate chemistry test. Now most tests are enzymatic. I can remember inoculating sugars for bacterial testing. Now, this is automated. If you have an article to write about an experience you would like to share, you can contact Matthew at:
